IMSL NATIONAL MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE 2016 WAS HELD UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA
The inaugural ceremony of the National Management Conference 2016 organized by the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka (IMSL) was held under the patronage of President of Sri Lanka His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo on 08 November, 2016. Minister of Public Enterprises Development, Eran Wickramaratne graced this occasion as the Guest of honour and key note speaker.
This year’s Conference was held under the theme “Resolving Contemporary Management Challenges”. The National Management Conference is an Annual event organized by the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka (IMSL) with the key objective of facilitating informed discussion and consultation on a contemporary management topic of national interest. The National Management Conference 2016 was held for the 17th time bringing together management practitioners, professionals, academics, students and leaders from the public and corporate sector to a common platform of sharing and learning, through the Conference theme.
Following the key note, two panel discussions were held with the eminent academics and professionals in the industry and academia. The first session was focused on “Managing in turbulent times: Ensuring a Macro-Micro Balance” and the panel was Chaired by Dr. Saman Kalagama Director – Institute of Policy Studies, Chairman Singer Sri Lanka. Other panellists were Dr. Trevor Mendis, Senior Consultant Postgraduate Institute of Management, Dr. (Mrs.) Ramani Gunatilaka, University of Colombo, Ms. Samadanie Kiriwandeniya, Chairperson, Sanasa Development Bank, and Mr. Sutheash Balasubramaniam Managing Partner, Sri Lanka at SSA Business Solutions (Pvt) Ltd.
The second session was concentrated about “Fusion: The future of management” which was chaired by Dr. Asoka Jinadasa, and the panellists were Mr. Rohantha Athukorala, Chairman Lanka Sathosa, Mr. W.K.H. Wegapitiya Group Chairman, Laugfs Holdings Ltd, Dr. Dayan Rajapakshe, Chairman, ESOFT and Mr. Ravi Jayawardena – CEO (Sales & Marketing) of Maliban Biscuits Manufactories (Pvt) Ltd. Concluding the NMC 2016 Valedictory was delivered by Mr. Samantha Rathnayake, Management Consultant, Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
